In K2, the 5-day cycle is as follows:

Day 1: Sound Learning

Children continue learning phonics sounds, with the sounds becoming slightly more complex.

 

Day 2: Matching

Like day 4 in K1, children learn vocabulary through the use of flashcards, then match the words to pictures, but with less guidance.

 

Day 3: Sight Words

Children start to learn by sight (i.e. memorise) the highest frequency words in the English language. 

 

Day 4: Comprehension

Children continue to learn basic comprehension skills and sentence structure.

 

Day 5: Blending & Spelling

Children continue learning the phonics blending skill to help them read combined with a little spelling with phonics.
