In K3, the 5-day cycle is as follows:

Day 1: Sound Learning

Children complete learning the 44 pure sounds.

 

Day 2: Matching

Children continue to learn vocabulary through picture-word cards, then match the words to pictures, but with minimal guidance.

Day 3: Sight Words

Children continue to learn by sight (i.e. memorise) the highest frequency words in the English language. 

 

Day 4: Comprehension

Children continue to learn basic comprehension skills and sentence structure.

 

Day 5: Spelling

Children focus on learning to spell with phonics.
